A chart can render correctly and still communicate the wrong thing. Before export, the new checklist asks five plain questions: what claim does the chart make, does the scale support that claim, can labels be read without guessing, is the source visible, and does the reading order still work on a narrow screen?
The checklist is intentionally short. It is meant for the final two minutes before a chart goes into a report, not for a separate approval ceremony.
It also avoids pretending that one chart type is always correct. A bar chart, line chart, or scatter plot can each be appropriate depending on the question. The review focuses on evidence and interpretation rather than decoration.
